The new so-called ceasefire is just a pause for imperialist and Zionist military plans
The recently announced “ceasefire” is not a step toward peace, but a tactical reorganization of the US-Israeli war machine. This “pause” is a strategic maneuver by the US and Israel to manage international outrage while they retool for the next phase of regional domination and colonial expansion.
The hypocrisy of this truce is written in blood. On the very day the ceasefire was established, Israel launched its heaviest bombings on Lebanon, murdering over 250 people in markets and shops—a massacre dismissed by Trump as a mere “skirmish.” This follows a 40-day criminal campaign against Iran, which included bombing a school and slaughtering 165 children. Although Hezbollah’s resistance has mired Zionist forces in a stalemate in southern Lebanon, the human toll is staggering, with over 7,000 Lebanese killed since 2023. Israel’s move to re-occupy Lebanon has several Zionist motives, namely: pursuing the original fantasy of a borderless Greater Israel, weakening any regional resistance to Israeli domination, and ensuring that Lebanon has a collaborationist neocolonial regime.
The shift toward a “ceasefire” with Iran represents a significant political defeat for Trump and Netanyahu, who failed to secure a quick “regime change” and are now met with Iran’s strategic response in the Strait of Hormuz.
In Palestine, the “Trump Plan” ceasefire of October 2025 has proven to be a managed genocide. Since that “truce” began, over 700 people have been murdered in Gaza, most dying from the agonizing consequences of engineered famine, untreated wounds, and mutilations. Israeli troops haven’t withdrawn; they still occupy 54% of the Gaza Strip. The recent murder of Al Jazeera journalist Mohammed Wishah—the 262nd press worker killed—shows the systematic war on truth. Meanwhile, in the West Bank, settler attacks and mass incarcerations of both adults and children have intensified, culminating in the Israeli parliament’s abhorrent approval of the death penalty by hanging specifically for Palestinians.
This current shift in rhetoric signals a tactical setback for the maximalist “peace through annihilation” strategy championed by the Trump administration and the Israeli far-right. However, this is merely a change of pace. The aggression against Iran remains the ultimate goal of the US-Israeli axis; this ceasefire is an attempt to stabilize some fronts to better prepare for a regional war of imperialist domination.
As an internationalist network of 25 anti-Zionist jewish groups, we recognize that the “Greater Israel” project—aiming for expansion into Lebanon, Syria, and beyond—advances through the active complicity of Western governments and passivity of others. We oppose this fake ceasefire sanitising a genocidal campaign.
We demand:
Immediate and Permanent Ceasefire: An end to all hostilities in Palestine and Lebanon, and an end to the imperialist threats against Iran.
Total Embargo: An immediate end to all military, financial, and diplomatic support from Western governments to the Israeli regime.
Dismantle the Siege: The full opening of all borders and an immediate end to the engineered famine in Gaza.
Stop the Executioner State: Universal repudiation of the death penalty for Palestinians and the immediate release of all political prisoners.
The “peace” of the graveyard is not peace. We will remain in the streets to support the resistance of the people against this imperialist and Zionist barbarism.
